Hope Clinic for Women, Ltd. is licensed by the state of Illinois as an Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center. We are privately owned, founded in 1974 and have performed over 100,000 abortions.
Hope Clinic is located in a state-of-the-art, two-story surgical center in Granite City, IL, directly across the street from Gateway Regional Medical Center -- 10 minutes from St. Louis' Poplar Street Bridge.
We offer abortions for women who are between 6 and 24 weeks pregnant. We were one of the first clinics in the country to offer medical abortion (the abortion pill). We also offer emergency (morning after) contraception to prevent pregnancy.
Our licensed, board-certified physicians specialize in obstetrics and gynecology and have many years experience in professional abortion care. Our counselors are degreed from recognized universities. Our medical technicians are licensed by the state of Illinois in their respective fields.
Our patients come to us from all over the country. Many come from other states due to more restrictive abortion laws in those states. Each person receives individual counseling. Abortion is not rare. Nationwide, 1 in 3 women will have an abortion during their reproductive years.
Hope Clinic performs over 3,000 procedures per year.
- 87 women out of 100 have first trimester abortions (less than 14 weeks LMP).
- 13 women out of 100 have second trimester abortions (14 to 24 weeks LMP).
- Over 50% of the women we see are 18 - 25 years old. (43% are 26 - 48, 8% are minors)
The state of Illinois does not require parental consent for minors for abortion, but does require notification of a parent, grandparent, step-parent, or legal guardian. 4% of our patients are minors from other states, many of whom come to us with a parent.
